Achieving success in mapping of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Lesotho

We have completed the Mapping of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on behalf of UNICEF Lesotho. UNICEF was leading the CSO mapping exercise on behalf of the Ministry of Health and its partners. As Muthengo Development Solutions our role was to map existing CSOs countrywide to determine, among others, their capacities on immunisation components, including reaching the most vulnerable, areas of potential support, geographical locations, their structure, and ongoing programs being implemented by them that could be integrated with immunisation work. The main purpose of the assignment was to map existing CSOs working, or with the potential to work, in the child health and immunisation field in Lesotho. The CSO mapping exercise also provided recommendations for strengthening the participation of CSOs in immunisation in the country.

The information collected from the mapping also informed the development of the CSOs database for health, especially the immunisation programme. We also achieved the following  objectives:

  • Profile CSOs working in immunisation, child health, or with potential for immunisation work
  • Identifying and assessing the risks
  • Develop maps of CSO locations
