
Description of Project
The Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council developed a new Family Planning Strategy for the period 2016 to 2018. The Advocacy and Communication strategy will support implementation of the family planning strategy. The work includes undertaking a comprehensive situational analysis of family planning and the state of advocacy and communication on key objectives of the Family Planning Strategy. Other responsibilities include: design of the process, drafting of the strategy, facilitating validation workshop and finalization of the strategy. The team developed a three-year National FP Advocacy and Communication Strategy that focuses on advocacy initiatives to enhance operational policy environment, improve the quality of available Family Planning and Sexual Reproductive Health services, raise awareness and increase demand for integrated services. The Advocacy and Communication Strategy addressed the two major goals of ZNFP Strategy and CIP, which are;
- To increase Contraceptive Prevalence Rate (CPR) from 65.6% to 68% and
- Reduce teenage pregnancy rate from 22% to 12% by 2020.
