Institutional Contract to carry out and independent impact study for the School Improvement Grant (SIG)

Institutional Contract to carry out and independent impact study for the School Improvement Grant (SIG) In partnership with Mokoro, MDS conducted an independent impact study for the School Improvement Grant (SIG) in Zimbabwe. The School Improvement Grants were received by over 4500 schools across Zimbabwe, representing more than half the schools in the country. The grant is principally targeted towards the schools with the lowest incomes. This impact study sought to assess the effect of the projects on the schools and educational sector in general. Mokoro was the lead and technical partner while MDS was the local Zimbabwean partner responsible for data collection and management, fieild logistics and brought in the local sector context and understanding to the assignment. Since the assignment was implemented during the COVID period, COVID 19 sensitive data collection methods were adopted. Telephone based Quantitative interviews were conducted with sampled schools with head teachers and administrative members of staff. Qualitative interviews were conducted with key stakeholders in the education sector at national and district level.
