A Rapid Assessment of the Status of Civil Society Engagement in the Expanded Programme on Immunisation in Zimbabwe

In Zimbabwe, where the immunisation coverage rate has been a critical focus for public health interventions, the involvement of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in immunisation efforts has gained significant attention.MDS conducted a mapping exercise to identify and understand the CSOs actively engaged in child immunisation initiatives in Zimbabwe. The primary objective of this mapping exercise was to gain insights into the landscape of CSO involvement in child immunisation, including their roles, activities, and areas of focus. By mapping the CSOs, we aimed to identify the key stakeholders contributing to immunisation efforts, assess their impact, and identify potential areas for collaboration and improvement. To achieve this, a mixed-methods approach was adopted, combining desk research and interviews with key informants involved in child health and immunisation programs. The mapping exercise focused on CSOs operating at various levels, including national, regional, and community-based organizations. By employing a systematic and rigorous methodology, we aimed to capture a comprehensive and accurate picture of the CSOs working tirelessly to improve immunisation coverage across Zimbabwe.
