Final evaluation of the Joint Humanitarian Response for El Niño in Zimbabwe 2 (ZIMJRII)

Description of the Project

The Zimbabwe Joint Humanitarian Response 2 proramme was a humanitarian response project which was implemented by a consortium of seven members of the Dutch Relief Alliance (DRA) a consortium led by Oxfam. The purpose of the evaluation was: To assess the relevance, effectiveness and sustainability of the activities under the ZIMJRII, To identify lessons learned and inform the development of future humanitarian projects in Zimbabwe, and for climate-change related natural disasters of the DRA, To provide accountability to the donor, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The assignment involved evaluation of different programme components which included school feeding (nutrition), nutritional gardens (livelihoods), WASH and assessment of educational outcomes. The evaluation therefore also assessed the effectiveness of the integrated approach to such humanitarian type response projects. Data was collected and triangulated from different sources mostly project beneficiaries who included children. Child sensitive approaches were used in engaging children.
